a.       Cut a pair of threads of same length, let’s say 40cm each and tie an overhand knot.

b.       Now insert both ends of the thread into a lava bead, facing each other oppositely.

c.       Now you have two faces of threads in opposite directions. Add on your favorite combination of acrylic beads and make the threads pass through another lava bead.

d.       Continue to do so until you have reached a desired length and seal the row of beads with an overhand knot once again. By the looks of it, you’re almost there!

e.       Take another thread of 20cm length and place it with remaining ends to create square knots. Make at least seven square knots or as many as you can manage.

f.        Make the ends of both threads prettier by adding acrylic beads on both ends and tie double overhand knots.

g.       Cut the long threads and burn their ends with lighter to make a seal. You’re ready to sport your first lava bead bracelet!

So the most important thing here is safety. You will be working with a propane torch, so make sure that you are not wearing anything flammable while working. Also, be sure to have gloves ready, preferably of flame resistant material so that you can handle the extremely high temperature materials you will be working with. Always be sure to work in a brightly lit environment. Get a safety glass. Always have a fire extinguisher nearby in case of emergencies. And last but not the least; do not heat the glass too high. Super-heated glass is not to be trifled with.

Making it

Now that we have the safety points taken care of, let us get down to business.

·         For the glass, you will need, well, glass. So get all the junk you have left over. Broken glass pieces, waste milk bottles and any kind of clean glass is totally usable.

·         Get some thin metal rods (old un-rusted cycle spokes work the best)

·         Heat the glass pieces, holding them at an angle so that the glass can liquefy easily and can be collected somewhere

·         Coat the rod with molten glass

·         Heat the rod uniformly so that the beads become smooth and round

·         Finally, let it cool in the air

Under no circumstances, should you touch it while it is cooling. Also, initially, start with small glass beads. Larger ones crack easily and should only be attempted once you have sufficient experience in handling them. Later on, you can add colour to the beads when they are cooling. This gives a nice hue to the beads once set. 

Versatility

Glass beds are one of the most overlooked, and yet highly used materials in making jewellery. Not only can you make them in different sizes, once you have mastered the art, you can use molds for making different shaped ones as well. While it is true that home-made molds cannot be used for anything too intricate, same fairly interesting ones can always be prepared. How to make a Purse using Wholesale beads?

I have been crafting for several years and I love to do it. I have a large collection of different wholesale beads as I am addicted to different sorts of beads and buy them anywhere I find them. Recently, I saw a beautiful color of crystal beads in the craft store and got an amazing idea to convert those beads into a purse, so I bought those crystal beads to practically implement what I had in mind.

Here I am sharing my idea of the purse with you so that you can also make your own unique purse using any kind of wholesale beads.

Things you will need to make crystal beaded purse:

You will need plastic thread or fish wire, lining fabric that will be used in the same color as of the beads, needle and thread, sewing machine, crystal wholesale beads of any beautiful color of your choice and a zipper for the purse to close its opening securely.

Making beaded chains for the purse:

1^st of all you need to measure the height of the purse you need and cut the plastic thread 3 times longer than the height of the purse. String 3 beads into that thread set them on the center of the thread. Now, string 1 bead on both sides of the thread. The thread is divided into 2 sections; at this moment, thread 1 bead on each side and repeat the previous step of threading 3^rd bead from both ends of the thread. Do it again until you reach the required length; once the required length is reached, thread the last few beads to lock the beads on the thread.

Make as many beaded chains as you need to complete the purse. Place these beaded chains side by side horizontally to attain the required width of the purse. I used 8 crystal chains of wholesale beads to complete my purse. Be careful that all the beaded chains are of the same length.

Join the beaded chains to make purse:

Again take a string of plastic thread 3 times longer than the height of the purse and thread a single crystal thread into it, place it in the center of the thread. Now place 2 crystal beaded chains parallel to each other and insert the string into the beads of each of these two chains and keeping the already threaded bead in the center. Thread another bead from both ends of the thread after threading the beaded chains side by side. Repeat the process again and again to reach the other end. At this point, thread wholesale beads randomly to lock them.

Join all the chains using the same techniques. Join the sides of the beaded chains to make the body of the purse. Fold the beaded mat into equal halves. The same technique will be used to join these chains too.

For making the interior of the purse:

Cut the piece of lining fabric for the interior same in size to the purse. Fold the interior piece into half and attach zipper of matching color. Sew the sides and turn the side of the fabric out.

Attach the exterior beaded purse to the interior and stitch it using needle and thread. Gibe the final touches by cutting the edges of threads and your beautiful purse made up of wholesale beads is ready to carry.

How to Make a Statement Necklace out of Wooden Beads?

Are you glad that now the statement necklaces are back in the trends? Thank God!! Now you can wear something different than just plain and boring pendant necklaces. You may find a large amount of variety in the market now but there is always one thing anyone would love and it is making a necklace out of wooden beads at home.

Who says you cannot make anything good out of the wooden beads? I would like to share with you one of my personal favorite projects on making a statement necklace.

Materials Needed

You will need beads in different sizes i.e.

·         12 beads of 25 mm

·         12 beads of 20 mm

·         6 beads of 16 mm

·         12-24 beads of 12 mm

·         4 to 7 double rings

·         2 to 3 strand end bars

·         Nylon monofilament

·         Chain

·         Nose pliers

·         Scissors

Method:

·         Now here is what you need to do. Follow the pattern below to string the beads into the nylon monofilament. You can also make your own variation in the pattern, it is never harmful to use your own creativity. You can fill the chain with more beads in case you do not want to show the chain much.

·         Once you are happy with the length, it is time to tie the monofilament into a knot on each ring having 3 strand end bars. Make sure you leave 2 inches overhang of the knotted monofilament so that you can tuck the strands of beads back in.

·         You have to attach a chain with the 3 strand end bars in case you are not adding enough beads in the necklace. After this, you have to attach a toggle clasp to the chain.

It is a simple necklace but it is surely enough to let you make your own style statement. It all depends on you to introduce some variations in the style by adding more beads. You can also play with colors and sizes. It is going to be a wonderful idea to gift this amazing necklace to your best friend. She will love your effort and as it is an elegant piece, she is never going to say No to it.
